Week-long beekeeping training programme launched at Chandel

Chandel, December 15 2025: A week-long Basic Beekeeping Training Programme' organised by the District Officer (Horticulture & Soil Conservation) Chandel, under the aegis of the Manipur Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM), Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Govt of Manipur, and sponsored by the National Bee Board, commenced at Chandel on Monday.

The inaugural function was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Chandel, Md Firoj Khan; District Agriculture Officer Chandel, SP Lovejoy; DO of Horticulture & Soil Conservation, S Surjakumar; and Agricultural Officer O Keishikumar, among others.

During the training, Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) in Plant Protection of ICAR-KVK Ukhrul, Dr N Ajitkumar, delivered an in-depth lecture on "Scientific of Beekeeping in Hill Ecosystems", while SMS in Plant Protection of ICAR-Churachandpur, Dr N Johnson spoke on the "Value-added Honeybee Products for Rural Entrepreneurship Development" as resource persons.

Altogether, 25 trainees selected from different parts of Chandel district are participating in the training programme.
