Imphal, September 15 2026:
A one-day youth conference on the theme "Youth as Agents Of Change" was held today at Khuman Mini Stadium, Konchak, with a call for greater participation of youth in politics for social transformation.
The conference was jointly organised by Mayang Imphal Block Congress Committee and Mayang Imphal Block Youth Congress Committee.
Former Minister Dr Kh Ratan Kumar attended as chief guest while former MLA and MPCC vice president in-charge Youth Md Amin Shah, MPCC secretary P Bangkimchandra, All India Trade Union Congress (Manipur Chapter) Y Ranapratap and other prominent persons attended as guests.
In his address, Dr Kh Ratan Kumar stressed that building a good society requires active involvement of youth in politics.
Referring to recent developments in the National capital, he said students and youth staged peaceful protests against repeated question leaks in competitive examinations and demanded resignation of the Union Education Minister.
The resignation that followed after sustained protest shows youth are insecure about their future and dissatisfied with the present Central Government, he said.
He said though India is the largest democracy in the world, democratic values are not being upheld by the present Government.
It is time for youth who had stayed away from politics to step in and work for a developed society and a transformed nation, he added.
The conference discussed the role of youth in bringing positive change, challenges faced in education and employment, and the need for clean politics.
The event also saw around 200 people from 46 polling stations who had earlier supported other parties joining the Congress party.
