Eningthou Maliyapham Palcha remembered

The Kangleipak Calendar Board today observed the '2nd Observance Day of Eningthou Maliyapham Palcha' at the Manipur Press Club, Imphal.
The late King is credited with establishing the Meetei calendar.
The event was attended by Keirao AC MLA Lourembam Rameshwar Meetei as chief guest.
Others present included Kangleipak Calendar Board president Acharya Ahambhijit Sairom, astro-numerologist Akham Langol, Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board member secretary Sandham Gandharaj, retired IAS officer Mangsatabam Harekrishna, and Patriotic Writers' Forum Manipur secretary Rakesh Naorem.
Floral tributes were offered to the photograph of King Maliyapham Palcha.
As part of the observance, the Board honoured Ramkung Pamei, Editor of The Cham daily, Tamenglong HQs, for publishing news in the Kabui-Rongmei dialect.
Speaking on the occasion, Ramkung Pamei expressed gratitude and said, "Honoring The Cham Kabui-Rongmei newspaper is not just a personal recognition, but a step toward bringing hill and valley people together.
May the KCB grow stronger and continue to promote peace and communal harmony in our land".
Lourembam Rameshwar stressed the need to preserve Meitei culture, language and traditions among the younger generation, and lauded the Board for its continued efforts.
