'Stop Diarrhoea Campaign aims at reducing child mortality due to diarrhoea'

With an aim to achieve zero child deaths due to diarrhoea, Stop Diarrhoea Campaign 2024 for Thoubal district was launched today.
Stop Diarrhoea Campaign is a nationwide campaign which will be held till August 31, 2024 under the theme 'Zero deaths due to childhood diarrhoea'.
The launching programme was held at National Health Mission Conference Hall located at the Chief Medical Officer complex, Thoubal Wangmataba organised by the District Health Society Thoubal.
In line with the campaign, Deputy Commissioner Thoubal Ahanthem Subhash Sing IAS also inaugurated the Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) programme for Thoubal district.
The inaugural programme was also attended by Dr Y Nokul, District Mission Director of District Health Society (DHS) Thoubal and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Dr W Ruhinikumar, Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Thoubal as the presidium members.
Speaking at the occasion, DC Thoubal highlighted that the Anganwadi and ASHA workers have a pivotal role to play for effective implementation of the campaign.
Stating that the primary objective of the campaign is to reduce childhood mortality due to diarrhoea, the DC sought cooperation and support from all to achieve the aim.
Talking about the preventive measures of diarrhoea, the DC said that the elders and parents should ensure that cleanliness and hygiene is maintained among the children.
The Thoubal DC also appealed to the stakeholders and the line departments to take up strong measures for the success of the campaign ensuring that the relevant benefits are availed by the targeted section of the people.
The dignitaries also sensitized the gathering about the causes of diarrhoea and its preventive measures.
During the programme, the Thoubal DC also distributed 28,000 packets of Zinc and ORS which are to be distributed to children between the age group of 0-5 years through Anganwadi centres.
Further the DC also gave directives to open ORS and Zinc comers in every hospital in the district.
Today's programme was also attended by staff of hospitals, health centres, Medical Officers, ASHA workers and Anganwadi workers.
