When contact late Monday evening, speaker Th Satyabrata informed The People's Chronicle that the peace talk scheduled on Tuesday will be attended by Meetei, Kuki and Naga legislators.
It will be the first step initiated by the Ministry of Home Affairs under the aegis of Union home minister Amit Shah towards restoring peace in the state after the more than one and half years of violence which claimed the lives of over 200 people and rendered more than 60,000 people homeless, he acknowledged.
It is unlikely that Tuesday's peace talk would arrive at a decision to restore peace immediately in the state but the steps taken by the ministry are very positive one, Satyabrata said and expressed hope that the peace talk could be held in phase-wise manner till restoration of complete peace in the state.
Meanwhile, NPF MLA Losii Dikho informed media persons before leaving Imphal airport for New Delhi that the initiatives by the Ministry of Home Affairs for restoring peace in Manipur is commendable and expect something positive towards restoring peace.
Such a step at this crucial juncture is of great significance but it would be impossible to bring back peace without participation of legislators of all the communities of the state in the peace talk, he said and appealed to legislators of all the communities to take part the peace talk and cooperate.
Even though some Meetei and Naga MLAs have reached the national capital for Tuesday's peace talk, how many Kuki MLAs would attend the same is yet to be ascertained.
Nevertheless, there is high possibility of some Kuki MLAs joining the peace talk in view of serious efforts being made by the Ministry of Home Affairs to organise the meet under the aegis of Union home minister Amit Shah.
