SFs recover drugs, gold biscuit, liquor

Imphal, July 14 2021: A combined team of Churachandpur district police station and 31 Assam Rifles led by station's OC Thang-zamuan N on Wednesday arrested three drug smugglers identified as Shokhogin Haokip (45), son of Otkholun and his wife Tingneikim (40) both from Bethel in Chandel district along with their leader Longjam Bapin Meitei (27), son of L Boinao of Pangei near Sainik school, PS-Heingang, Imphal East district with 2.437 kg of heroin.

According to police reports, based on input that Bapin is transporting contraband drugs in a numberless Hyundai i10 car, a joint operation was launched by the combined team of Churachandpur police station and 31 AR.

At about 10:30 am, one unregistered Hyundai i10 car moving along Teddim road was stopped and checked at Kangvai leading to recovery of two diaper plastic packets, three white plastic packets and three black plastic packets containing 189 small packets of suspected heroin weighing 2.437 kg.

Bapin was not present in the vehicle which was occupied by Shokhogin and his wife Tingneikim.

On interrogation, they stated that they were transporting the drugs from Chandel side as directed by Bapin to Churachandpur, while Bapin had gone ahead to make a deal with some unknown buyer.

The two individuals were arrested and the suspected heroin, Hyundai i10 car and three mobile phones seized.

Later, the police team apprehended Bapin from Red Cross road, New Bazaar around 11:30 am.

A case has been registered against the arrested drug smugglers at Churachandpur police station.

On the hand, Tengnoupal Battalion of IGAR (South) seized gold biscuits at Khu-dengthabi check post on Wednesday.

An EECO van was intercepted during routine checking during which gold biscuits and ornaments worth Rs 47.65 lakh and Rs 2.80 lakh in cash were recovered, said PRO IGAR (S).

Three apprehended persons along with the recovered gold items and cash have been handed over to Customs Department at Moreh, it added.

Meanwhile, Imphal West district police seized Rs 2 lakh worth of liquor from Thangmeiband Khomdram Selungba Leikai on Tuesday while Chandel District Police seized around 2.285 kg of brown sugar from Khullen Khailet.

According to the police reports, on receipt of reliable information, a team of Imphal West Police conducted a raid at the residences of Meisnam Tomba Singh (23) and Salam Sancha Singh (27) of Thangmeiband Khomdram Selungba Leikai around 6pm.During the raid, the team seized 10 Bottles of RC Whisky -375ml, 10 Bottles of Mc D (O) 180ml, 96 Bottles of Mc D (P) 180 ml, 2 Bottles of OC Blue 375ml, 36 Bottles of OC Blue 180 ml, 21 Bottles of Romanov 180ml, 54 Bottles of Magic Mnt 180 ml, 12 Bottles of Magic Mnt 750ml, 48 Bottles of Old monk 750 ml, 109 Bottles of Old Monk 180ml, 48 cans of Tuborg 500ml, 48 cans of Kingfisher 500ml, 12 Bottles of Kingfisher 750ml and 10 Bottles of DIC liquor 500ml from the residence of Tomba.

Three Bottles of RC Whisky-375ml, 50 Bottles of Romanov-180ml, 12 Bottles of Magic Mnt- 750ml, 56 Bottles of Magic Mnt-180ml, 45 Bottles of Old Monk-750ml, 6 cans Tuborg -500ml, 12 Bottles of Tuborg 650ml, 80 cans of Kingfisher 500ml, 24 Bottles of Kingfisher 650ml, 21 Bottles of BP whisky-375ml, 3 Bottles of Solan black 375ml, 6 Bottles of Sterling R.180ml, 21 Bottles of Solanblack180ml, 24 Bottles of Romanov 750ml, 11 Bottles of Knight Rider 375ml, 7 Bottles of Twist W 180ml and 20 Bottles of DIC Liquor 500ml from the residence of Salam Sancha Singh.

A team of Wangoi PS also confiscated around 210 litre of DIC liquor from the residence of Shougrakpam Sanatomba Singh (32) s/o (L) Dorendro of Meijrao Maning Leikai on Tuesday.

On the other-hand, a combined team of Chandel District Police, Chakpikarong PS, CKG/OC Rafi Shah under and SDPO Chandel conducted a search operation in Khullen Khailet village of Chakpikarong Sub Division around 2.30 pm Tuesday during which the team seized around 2.285 kg of brown sugar packed into 177 soap cases from one John Manglamsaun Zou (19) s/o Paudoulien Zou of Moreh Ward No.1 Home Guard Veng, presently residing at Khullen Khailet.

After completion of all necessary formalities, both John Manglamsaun Zou and the illegal items were seized.
