Art & Culture Research Centre unveils new Sankirtan productions on 11th Foundation Day

Imphal, May 14 2026:
The Manipur Art& Culture Research Centre marked its 11th Foundation Day on Thursday with the release of a new Sankirtan production, "Chali Pareng and Madanmuhan Taal" at Eikhoigee Shanglen in Kwakeithel Mayaikoibi Chabungbam Leikai.
Speaking at the event, Manipur Art & Culture Research Centre president Yumnam Bimota said the new production aims to revive and preserve declining aspects of Nat Sankirtan and pass on the art form inherited from forefathers to the present and future generations.

The Centre, located at Kwakeithel Sayang Lambi Konthoujam Leikai, has been training emerging artists in Sankirtan-related dance and music for the past 11 years, she said.
Bimota added that the Centre would continue to play its role in promoting Nat Sankirtan, which has given Manipur a distinct identity globally.
Besides Chali Pareng and Madanmuhan Taal, the Centre plans to bring out new productions of different Sankirtan taals every year, she said.
Sangeet Natak Awardee N Tiken, JNMDA Imphal visiting Guru B Gopal Sharma, and Manipur University of Culture Assistant Professor Toina Shilla attended the programme.
