AR pays tribute to braveheart

Imphal, January 14 2025:
Assam Rifles conducted a wreathlaying ceremony today at Sehlon, Chandel district to honor Rifleman Brajanabi Sharma, who made the supreme sacrifice on January 14, 1998 at Jiribam district, Manipur.
According to a release issued by IGAR (South), Rifleman Brajanabi Sharma was part of an escort team for the movement of vehicles to the Battalion Headquarters in Jiribam.
En route, he encountered underground workers extorting money from the local people.
Rifleman Sharma confronted the underground workers, and in retaliation, their vehicle was fired upon.
During the ensuing firefight, Rifleman Sharma was severely injured and later succumbed to his injuries at the 160 Military Hospital, demonstrating immense courage and valor in the line of duty.
The wreath-laying ceremony began with the Commandant of the unit leading the tribute, sharing the story of the braveheart to instill a sense of pride and honor among the troops.
A total of number of 4 officers, 10 Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs), and 105 Other Ranks participated in the ceremony, laying wreaths and honoring Rifleman Brajanabi Sharma with a Guard of Honor.
Assam Rifles salutes the supreme sacrifice of Rifleman (Late) Brajanabi Sharma in the service of the nation.
