Mega health camps organised under Operation Sadbhavana

Brigadier Sandeep Singh, SM, DIG, Headquarters 10 Sector Assam Rifles inaugurated a one-day mega health camp at Shangshak village.
The camp was organised by 40 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 10 Sector Ukhrul for the adjoining villages of Ukhrul and Kamjong district.
Speaking on the occasion, the DIG said that the medical camp was organised to provide free health services and to identify persons who require advance care in order to conduct a follow up health camp for sustained effort from their end.
The DIG informed that a series of health camps were organised in the remote villages of Kamjong as an extensive medical outreach programme under Operation Sadbhavana project 2024-25.According to him, the medical camp was organised with the resources available to the Assam Rifles to provide medical services free of cost to all target persons.
"We have engaged 6-7 specialist doctors from the State Health Department for the camp to give our best services to the needy villagers", he added.
A pharmacy has also been established under the Operation Sadbhavna project, which has procured medicines worth more than Rs 10 lakh for distribution to the public.
The programme emphasizes the importance of health and well-being through Assam Rifles medical outreach programme.
Meanwhile, the village secretary of Shangshak Phunghon K Rami expressed gratitude to Assam Rifles for organising the mega health camp for the rural people of the area villages.
He further mentioned that the village always welcomes such good initiatives and will continue to extend co-operation at all times.
In addition, 68 year old Yangmila Konghar from Hundung Gotah village shared that she has orthopaedic issues and received a proper medical examination and free medicines from the Assam Rifles pharmacy.
Over 700 patients from 13 neighbouring villages including Lungshang, Shangshak Khullen and Koso were given free medical consultation and treatment during the medical camp.
Additionally, it may be noted that as per a press note issued by IGAR (S), Assam Rifles organised a series of medical camps across seven remote villages in Kamjong district from November 9 to 13 as part of Operation Sadbhavana, aimed to provide essential medical care to the villages of Alang, Chamu, Mapum, Changa, Pushing, Punamram, and K Asang Khullen.
The medical camps were staffed by personnel from Assam Rifles based in Shangshak and Somsai, with support from civil medical authorities in Ukhrul district.
A diverse team of nine specialized doctors - including an ENT specialist, ophthalmologist, orthopedist, general physician, anesthesiologist.
gynecologist, obstetrician, and dentist� provided a broad spectrum of healthcare services.
These camps delivered much-needed relief to communities with limited access to healthcare services.
Medicines were also distributed at no cost to patients.
The initiative received an overwhelming response from the villagers.
By the end of the fourth day of the medical camp, over 3,000 residents from Kamjong, Ukhrul, and neighboring areas benefited from comprehensive medical services.
