Tamenglong, May 13 2026:
In a significant initiative aimed at extending essential services to remote areas, social worker Appolos T Panmei, inassociation with the Chingkao Village Authority, organised an Aadhaar enrolment drive at Chingkao village underTousem Sub-division of Tamenglong district on Tuesday.
Located under Chramram ADC Circle, Chingkao village lies around 60 kilometres away from the Tamenglong district headquarters.
Despite the installation of electricity poles in the area, the village has reportedly remained without power connectivity for the past five years.
The village comprises around 45 households, with nearly 40 students enrolled at Chingkao Primary School.
The enrollment drive primarily focused on facilitating Aadhaar registration for school-going children and residents of the village.
Chingkao Village Authority chairman Gaikhangkhuan Kamei lauded the efforts of Appolos T Panmei and the enrolment team for reaching the remote village despite adverse road conditions and weather.
The chairman also appealed to the Government to restore electricity in the village at the earliest and highlighted several pressing issues faced by the villagers.
He informed that an unknown disease has recently killed 11 pigs in the village and urged the concerned veterinary and administrative authorities to visit the area and take preventive measures immediately.
Further, he appealed to the Medical Department to provide vaccination facilities for newborn children in the village, stating that mothers currently have to travel long distances on deplorable roads to access routine immunisation services.
He also urged Airtel authorities to restore and improve mobile network connectivity in the village at the earliest possible time.
