Literary Festival to commence in Hojai today

The Manipur State Kala Akademi (MSKA), an autonomous body under the Department of Art & Culture, Government of Manipur, is set to organise its 10th Festival of Literature in Hojai, Assam, starting tomorrow, Feb-ruary 14, 2026.As per a release issued by MSKA, the two-day event aims to promote Manipuri literature and will feature various literary sessions.
The festival will be inaugurated by Prof Manabendra Dutta Choudhury, Vice-Chancellor, Rabindranath Tagore University, Hojai.
Dr Phuritsabam Birmani, president of Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Assam, will preside over the inaugural function, with Laisom Gulap, president of the Manipuri Short Story Society of India, as the guest of honour.
The inauguration will be followed by poetry and short story reading sessions.
On the second day, a symposium titled "Assam Manipuri Literature in the Last Twenty Years" will be held.
A total of 21 Manipuri poets, writers, and scholars, including five Irom Manipur, are expected to participate.
Additionally, the "Hijam Anganghal Singh Memorial Lecture, 2026" will take place on February 15 at Hojai.
Prof W Kumari Chanu will deliver the lecture on "The Life and Works of Laishram Samarendra", presided over by Sahitya Akademi Awardee Ksh Bira Singh.
