National Youth Day echoes spirit of service, strength & Nation-building

Joining the rest of the country, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Manipur observed National Youth Day across the State on Monday to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
As per a release issued by AB VP Manipur, large numbers of students and youth joined the events with enthusiasm, highlighting the spirit of service, strength, and Nation-building.
In Thoubal, ABVP Manipur organised a marathon with the participation of nearly 300 youth.
Manipur Technical University also witnessed a special "Run for Swadeshi" event, organised by ABVP Manipur, in which around 90 students participated.
Prof Kananbala Sarangthem, Head of Zoology Department, Manipur University, graced the occasion and inspired the participants.
At DAV Public School, ABVP Manipur facilitated a painting competition centred on youth and national pride.
Kumari Pinubala Laishram, state joint secretary ABVP, interacted with students and motivated them to uphold the values of Swami Vivekananda.
ABVP Manipur also organised a talk programme at Assam Rifles Public School, where Dr Thiyam David (NEC Special Invitee, ABVP) delivered a lecture on Swami Vivekananda's teachings and their relevance to modem youth.
The College of Agriculture observed the day with a Yoga session organised by ABVP Manipur.
Dr Indira Aribam, CWC Member ABVP, attended and spoke on the importance of physical and mental discipline.
Cleaning drives were conducted at Imphal College and GP Women's College under the banner of ABVP Manipur, promoting social responsibility and campus cleanliness.
NIT Manipur conducted a "Run for Swadeshi" programme, organised by ABVP Manipur.
Bhagwat Singh, state organising secretary, ABVP Manipur, encouraged youth to contribute towards self-reliant India.
Government Polytechnic hosted a football tournament as part of the celebrations.
KV Lamphel No 1 held a talk on Swami Vivekananda, organised by ABVP Manipur, where Advocate Manju Sharma Adhikarimayum addressed the students on character-building and patriotism.
Apart from these major events, ABVP Manipur units across different districts organised debates, essay competitions, awareness activities, cultural programmes, plantation drives, and various youth-oriented events.
Many programmes focused on topics like youth empowerment, drug-free society, nation-building, social service, and personal discipline.
Moreover, reaffirming the ideals of youth empowerment and character building envisioned by Swami Vivekananda, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Manipuri Vibhag celebrated National Youth Day at Banting Hall, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal.
Thongam Biswajit Singh, MLA of Thongju Assembly Constituency, led the public in offering floral tributes to a portrait of Swami Vivekananda on the occasion.
In his address, Th Biswajit briefly outlined the life and contributions of Swami Vivekananda and highlighted his core teachings of self-reliance, discipline and truth as essential values for building a strong India.
He asserted that the observance of National Youth Day was not meant merely for remembrance but for meaningful action.
The MLA also emphasised that the destiny of the State and the Nation lies firmly in the hands of the youth.
Recitation of Shanti Path, devotional geet presentation, speeches highlighting significance of the day, distribution of spectacles to selected beneficiaries and chanting of Shanti Mantra were the main highlights of the event.
Dr Ch Chandramani Singh, vibhag sanchalak, Vivekananda Kendra Manipuri Vibhag; Swami Atmavikasananda, secretary, Ramkrishna Mission.
Imphal; Thokchom Ongbi Pramodini Devi, wife of late Thokchom Shiba Dutta Singh; and Dr W Jyotirmoy Singh, Principal, Nambol L Sanoi College were also present at the event.
