NIELIT Imphal workshop charts pathways for future-ready youth

A one-day workshop on "Building Future-Ready Youth in Manipur: Mapping Skills, Employment & Entrepreneurship Pathways" was held Thursday at NIELIT Imphal, organised by the VV Giri National Labour Institute, Ministry of Labour & Employment.
Inaugurating the programme, Dr Y Jayanta Singh, Executive Director, NIELIT Imphal, and Dr L Shyamsundar, Scientist-E, stressed equipping youth with industry-relevant, digital, and entrepreneurial skills to meet evolving job markets.
Dr Jayanta, in his keynote, called for continuous learning, innovation, and stronger educationemployment linkages.
Resource person Dr Otojit Kshetrimayum, Fellow, WGNLI Noida, led an interactive session on youth employability, linking educational qualifications, skills, salary expectations, and labour realities.
He flagged barriers like skill gaps, limited industry exposure, and weak career guidance, while outlining emerging opportunities in technology-driven sectors and the digital economy.
Provisions of the National Youth Policy and the Child Labour Act were also discussed.
Participants were introduced to the National Career Service Portal (ncs.gov.in) for jobs, counselling, skilling, and employer connectivity, and urged to register.
In a key activity, students drafted regional development blueprints, mapping growth sectors such as AI, renewable energy, human-machine collaboration, and the creative economy.
Presentations highlighted competencies like adaptability, communication, and advanced digital skills, and proposed modernised curricula and public-private partnerships.
The workshop concluded that Manipur's future-ready youth require robust support for entrepreneurship, innovation, and digital empowerment.
Students, trainees, faculty, and officials of NIELIT Imphal participated actively.
