Imphal, October 10 2026:
Locals of Thangmeiband have urged the Government, relevant departments and firms to start reconstruction of dilapidated roads in Thangmeiband area at the earliest.
Speaking to reporters at a press meet held at Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai, Thangmeiband Youth Information and Development Society advisor Ningthoujam Ibomcha expressed dissatisfaction that the firm concerned, despite being awarded the work order, has not started construction of roads in areas under Sinam Leikai, Neikalong, Tharon, Tarung, Yumnam Leikai etc.
The prolonged delay in starting the construction work has caused great inconveniences to the commuters and locals, including staff and students of schools and hospital staff and patients in the area, he said.
Urging the relevant firms and departments to start the construction work at the earliest, he said that the public will be forced to repair the roads themselves if the authorities concerned fail to begin construction.
The press meet was organised by locals of the area, and staff of Savio English Higher Secondary School and Hillside Hospital.
