Cleanliness drive held at Longmai Bazar ahead of I-Day

A mass cleanliness drive was organised at Longmai Bazar, Noney district headquarters, by the Longmai Bazar Board in collaboration with the Autonomous District Council (ADC), Tamenglong/Longmai, as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and in connection with the 80th Independence Day celebrations.
The drive was conducted under the themes, "My Waste, My Responsibility", "A Clean Place is a Safe Place" and "Clean Today, Healthy Tomorrow" .
Members of the Longmai Bazar Board, Longmai Bazar Youth Club, shopkeepers and local residents actively participated in the cleanliness drive, cleaning various areas of the bazar and its surrounding locations.
Speaking on the occasion, Longmai Bazar Board secretary Gailanchung Kamei and executive member Atuan Johnathan Gangmei said the initiative aimed to keep the bazar surroundings neat, clean and hygienic while promoting a healthy lifestyle among the people.
They appealed to shopkeepers, residents, travellers and the general public to practise proper solid waste management and dispose of waste responsibly.
They also urged everyone to extend cooperation in maintaining Longmai Bazar as a clean, hygienic and safe place.
The organisers stressed that cleanliness is a collective responsibility and called upon the public to make cleanliness and responsible waste disposal a regular practice.
