Protesters demand AT leader's unconditional release

Imphal, June 10 2025: Top Chingtha Youth Progressive Organization (TYPO) and Top-Chingtha Nupi Khunnai Kanba Lup staged a sit-in protest at Yairipok Top-Chingtha Nganba Keithel, Imphal East, demanding the release of Arambai Tenggol leader Asem Kanan.

Stating that Arambai Tenggol emerged as a group to save the State and its culture, Pangambam Ongbi Kunja Leima, secretary, Top-Chingtha Nupi Khunnai Kanba Lup strongly condemned the arrest of the AT fighting commander.

"Tengollois are not terrorists.

They are our sons and brothers who came forward to protect Manipur during a crucial time", she opined.

The protesters shouted slogans such as "We demand unconditional release of Asem Kanan" and "We condemn the arrest of an AT member".

Apunba Nupi Khunnai Lamjing Meira Lup Imphal East Yairipok -1 secretary Naorem Ongbi Pishakmacha Leima and other members were also present at the sit-in protest.
