Speaking on the occasion, Dr S Basanta Singh stated that a number of entrepreneurs are coming up in Manipur.
In order to be sustainable, they should focus on using locally available underutilized fruit crops which give a uniqueness and competitive advantage in the market.
He added that along with producing quality products, entrepreneurs should give more emphasis on quality packaging and nutritional labelling.
Dr Kh Rishikanta Singh expressed that post-harvest loss of citrus is very high in the State and more than 50 percent is due to handling and transportation problem.
This training programme will help convert the lemon, orange and other citrus crops produced in the State into value added products, thereby increasing farmers income and enhancing their livelihood, he remarked.
