KWRBDC seeks repair of Koirengei-Sekmai road

Imphal, July 09 2026: The Koirengei Wangma Road and Bridge Demand Committee (KWRBDC), Imphal East, has urged the concerned authorities to undertake immediate repair of the Koirengei-Sekmai road, which it said has remained in a dilapidated condition for a long time.

In a statement, the committee said the road serves as a lifeline for residents of 11 villages - Koirengei, Mongjam, Maibakhul, Nilakuthi, Keikol, Awang Potsangbam Khunou, Awang Potsangbam Khullen, Awang Wabagai, Tengri, Awang Leikinthanbi and Leikinthabi Santipur.

The committee alleged that prolonged neglect has left the road riddled with potholes, posing a serious risk to commuters and increasing the likelihood of accidents.

Appealing for immediate intervention, the committee urged the authorities to begin repair work by July 17 .

It warned that failure to do so would compel local residents, along with local clubs and Meira Paibi organisations, to launch various forms of democratic agitation, including road blockades.
