Imphal, July 09 2025: Joining the Nationwide general strike called by 11 Central Trade Unions against the "pro-corporate, anti-worker and anti-farmer" economic policies of the Central Government, sit-in protests were staged in different districts of Manipur today.

The main demands of the country-wide strike include scrapping of the four labour codes, contractualisation, privatisation of PSUs and labour reforms.

Endorsing the general strike, members of the Indian National TradeUnion Congress (INTUC), Manipur Branch organised a sit-in protest at the office of Minor Irrigation Department, Lamphelpat.

Employees of various institutions in Thoubal, Bishnupur and other districts also held protest demonstrations.
