Imphal, April 09 2025: A one day 'Discourse on Teacher Education in Manipur and Way Forward' was organized by the Department of Higher and Technical Education at City Convention Centre, Imphal East on April 7.The event was chaired by Dr Dibyajyoti Mahanta, Chairperson, Eastern Regional Committee, National Education for Teacher Education (NCTE), New Delhi and was attended by H Gyan Prakash, Commissioner (Higher & Technical Education), Government of Manipur: Valentina Arambam, Director (University & Higher Education), Manipur; Professor Premlata Maisnam, Dean (School of Education) Manipur University & Member, ERC, NCTE, officials of Higher Education Department, Education (S), SCERT and Principals of Government and Government Aided Colleges of Manipur.

The programme witnessed a thorough deliberation on the state of Teacher Education in the colleges and universities of Manipur with special emphasis on introduction of 4 year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP).

All the issues facing Teacher Education in Manipur and possible solutions for the same were discussed with the participation of officials and Heads of Institutions present at the discourse.
