Imphal, March 08 2026: The Manipur University Tribal Students' Union (MUTSU) has thrown its weight behind the Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM) in demanding the immediate opening of the Tribal Girls' Hostel at Old Lambulane, Imphal.

The hostel, vacated by paramilitary forces in September 2025, has remained shut, leaving tribal girl students from remote areas struggling to find affordable accommodation.

In a release, MUTSU claimed that students are being forced to opt for pricey rented rooms, burdening families financially.

The union has endorsed TYCM's ultimatum, set to expire on March 10, 2026, and is ready to join protests if demands aren't met.

"We urge authorities to act promptly", MUTSU stated.
