KGBV hosts awareness programme on Tobacco-Free Youth Campaign

Thoubal, December 07 2025: A one-day school awareness programme under the Tobacco Free Youth Campaign was held today at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Ukhongshang, Thoubal, organised by the National Tobacco Control Programme, District Health Society, Thoubal.

The programme was attended by Chief Medical Officer of Thoubal, Dr Y Nokul Singh; District Nodal Officer of NTCP, Dr Bikramjit Singh; District Nodal Officer Dr A Rajen Singh; and teacher of KGBV, Bijenti as presidium members.

Delivering the keynote address, Dr M Bikramjit Singh highlighted the importance of holding such awareness campaigns, particularly for young students.

He urged the students to stay away from tobacco and other harmful products and encouraged them to confidently say "No Thanks" whenever anyone attempted to persuade them to consume tobacco or related substances.

As part of the programme, students took a collective pledge to refrain from taking drugs.

This was followed by an open quiz competition conducted by District Program Manager, Basanta Singh.

Six students who were able to give correct answers were awarded as encouragement.
