AMPAL stages sit-in protest against bomb threat in residential area

Thoubal, June 07 2026: Members of the Athokpam Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (AMPAL) staged a sit-in protest demonstration today at Athokpam Keithel, to condemn a bomb threat at the residence of Kh Bishwajit, chairperson of Thoubal Municipal Council (TMC).

Speaking to the media, AMPAL convenor Athokpam Sobita strongly condemned the incident in which a bomb was reportedly kept at the residence of TMC chairperson Kh Bishwajit at Thoubal Athokpam on May 4 .

She stated that such acts create fear, panic and intimidation among innocent civilians and disturb the peace and security of the locality.

Sobita urged those responsible to refrain from resorting to such acts in the future and appealed for an end to all forms of intimidation and threats directed towards the public.

During the demonstration, protestors helds placards bearing slogans such as "We condemn placing bombs at residential areas," "We condemn intimidation and threats towards civilians" .
