THE YOUTH World Boxing Champion, Thokchom Nanao has humbly declined the job offered by the Manipur Chief Minister, O Ibobi.
Disclosing his stance, the young champion told this reporter that it's not that he did not like the government's offer but since he has to undergo various training to continue his sports career in order to bring further laurels for the country, he felt that it would not be right for him to leave the Army Institute, Pune, which has been training him.
Besides, the army has given him the post of Naik Subedar.
He would be joining the Artillery Regiment soon, he said.
He further told this reporter that he would gladly accept all incentive awards offered by the Government of Manipur except a job.
He also welcomed the announcement made by MLAs, Dr I Ibohalbi and Bijoy Koijam that each of them would give an award of Rs 50,000/50,000 to him.
Youth World Boxing Champion, Nanao said, he has heard that the Union Sports Ministry would give him an incentive award of Rs 10 lakhs.
He would also accept incentive awards offered by the Government of Manipur and MLAs.
