Imphal, February 05 2026:
The All Manipur Nupi Marup (AMNM) has urged the newly swom-in Chief Minister to extensively supervise the roadmap for rehabilitation of IDPs presented by Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel in order to ensure its effective execution.
In a press note, AMNM said it welcomes the rehabilitation strategy put forward by the Chief Secretary before the public, according to which the IDPs would be resettled in their original homes by March 31, 2026 .
However, before the resettlement of IDPs in their respective villages, AMNM has highlighted the need for the Manipur DGP and Security Advisor to initiate the removal of "buffer zone" tags and bunkers in the neighbouring Kuki-Zo villages.
Recalling the serial blasts at Saiton Nganukon and the recent attack on a Government reassessment team at Leimakhong Premnagar, AMNM accused the Central Security Forces of being biased towards a particular community in both cases.
Under such circumstances, even if the IDPs are resettled in their original villages, they will continue to feel unsafe.
Thus, AMNM urged the Chief Minister and Union Home Minister to issue strict directives to the Central Security Forces to ensure the safe return of IDPs .
