Imphal, October 04 2026: Khurai AC MLA L Susindro has announced that an Irabot Mausoleum Memorial Park will be built at Taungbo in Sagaing Region, Myanmar, where Lamyanba Hijam Irabot breathed his last.

Speaking to media at his residence at Khurai Sajor Leikai today, Susindro said it is unfortunate that the place where the legendary leader who worked for the welfare of the land died remains neglected till date.

As a mark of respect, the memorial park will be built at the site, he said, adding that Irabot died on the eastern bank of the Ningthi River at the foothills of Ango Ching.

The move aims to enable people to visit the place and pay homage, he said.

The park will have a lifesize statue of Irabot and will display his life and works in detail so that today's youth can follow in his footsteps, he said.

The memorial park will be completed by next year to allow visits, he said, while also alleging that Irabot could not return to Manipur after going underground due to the then Congress Government at the Centre.
