From Imphal to IIT Kharagpur: Assam Rifles empowers Manipur youth with transformative cultural journey

In a significant initiative to foster youth empowerment and national integration.
Assam Rifles sponsored and facilitated an educational and cultural exposure tour for 13 students and 3 teachers from Manipur to attend the prestigious SPIC MACAY International Convention at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur from, May 25 to 31, 2026.The journey commenced on May 23 with a ceremonial flagging-off at Lok Bhavan.
Imphal East District, graced by the Governor of Manipur.
The Governor lauded Assam Rifles for creating such invaluable opportunities, emphasising that representing Manipur at a premier institute would broaden horizons and strengthen bonds of unity through shared cultural heritage.
The delegation comprised students and teachers from ARPS Keithelmanbi (Imphal West), ARPS Mantripukhri (Imphal East) and Manipur University (Imphal West).
During the convention, the students immersed themselves in yoga sessions, holistic workshops and interactive engagements with renowned exponents of Indian classical music, dance and traditional crafts.
The exposure instilled discipline, confidence and appreciation for India's diverse cultural traditions, while also providing a national platform to showcase Manipur's rich heritage.
Upon their return, a flagging-in ceremony was held at Mantripukhri Garrison, Imphal East District, attended by senior officials and troops of Assam Rifles.
A total of 42 personnel participated in the reception, where the youth shared their experiences of overcoming stage fright, learning new art forms and building networks with peers across the country.
The interaction highlighted the transformative impact of the tour, inspiring the students to motivate their contemporaries back home.
The event concluded with heartfelt words of gratitude from the students and teachers, marking the successful culmination of a journey that reinforced cultural pride, confidence and national unity.
