Mera Kwak Tanba ritual held

The annual "Mera Kwak Tanba" ritual was held today at Wangkhei Thangapat under the aegis of Sana Konung.
The age-old ritual, observed on the 10th lunar day of the Mera Month in the Meitei calendar, is believed to bring prosperity to the region.
Shri Shri Govindaji Temple Board, Pandit Loishang and Cheirap Loishang also jointly organised the "Mera Kwak Tanba" ceremony at Hatta Kanjeibung, Palace Compound.
The ceremony featured a series of elaborate rituals and performances that highlighted the rich heritage of Manipur.
The highlight of the ritual was the freeing of a crow, followed by a prediction from high-ranking priests, who forecasted the future based on the bird's flight direction.
As part of the event, Angom Ningthou, Angom Surjit also released a book titled "Meitei Lai Haraoba" written by Late Ngariyanbam Kulachandra, former Pandit Achouba.
