In a significant milestone, Laishram Premkanta has become the first person from North East India to hold the position of Branch Officer/Court Master (non-shorthand) in the Supreme Court of India.
He is among 28 officers who were promoted to the post by Supreme Court Registrar Aparna Ajitsaria today.
He is on serial number 19 of the list.
Hailing from Heirok Part II Mayai Leikai in Thoubal district, Laishram Premkanta is the son of (L) Laishram Bana and Laishram (O) Maipakpi.
He is the fourth out of five siblings, comprising two boys and three girls.
Diving into his academic life, Laishram Premkanta completed Class X from Lamding High School and went on to study at Johnstone Higher Secondary School, Imphal till Class XII.
After completing his graduation from Manipur College, he studied MSc IT at Sikkim Manipal University.
Following this, he went on to pursue LLB at Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCSU) located in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh and in 2010 he joined as Junior Court Assistant in the Supreme Court of India.
After working at the country's apex Court for many years, he was finally promoted to the position of Branch Officer/Court Master today.
