One-day mass cleanliness drive held

Ukhrul, June 02 2024:
Volunteers of the Hunphun Katamnao Long, Thawaijao Hungpung Young Students' Organisation (THYSO) and members Khamatek Green Lovers of Ukhrul town conducted a one-day mass cleanliness drive yesterday.
The drive was carried out from Kharasom Junction to District Hospital Hungpung along the Ukhrul town highway.
The day-long cleanliness drive began from 9 am yesterday with the volunteers cleaning up clogged drains, untamed bushes and weeds on either side of the highway as well as plastic wrappers and other garbage littering the road side of Ukhrul town.
Speaking in this connection, Wungsorin Raleng, president of HKL (Ukhrul student body) stated that the drive was organised with an objective to inculcate the habit of keeping surroundings clean among students.
The cleanliness drive was organised under the theme 'Peace and Unity' and the youth of both Hunphun and Hungpung participated in the drive that began from two separate points, namely, Kharasom Junction and District Hospital.
It might be mentioned that Hunphun and Hungpung village are the two biggest villages amongst Tangkhul villages.
Over 500 student volunteers residing and studying in the schools of Hunphun and Hungpung village participated in the day-long cleanliness drive to show their support for the cleanliness movement.
