Drone technology bootcamp takes off in Chandel to sharpen forces' tactical edge

A five-day Drone Technology Bootcamp commenced on Monday at the Drone Training N ode (DIN) in Chandel District, Manipur, under the aegis of the Ministry of Electronics and lnformation Technology (MeitY), Govemment of India.
Organised in collaboration with Assam Rifles and the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, the initiative aims to bolster drone proficiency among India's security forces.
According to a release issued by the IGAR (South), the programme has drawn 154 participants from the Army.
Border Security Force (BSF), Assam Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Territorial Army, alongside faculty and students from IIT Dhanbad.
This diverse cohort reflects a unified national thrust towards integrating advanced Unmanned Aerial Systems into India's security architecture.
Structured to enhance operational readiness, the Bootcamp delivers immersive training in drone assembly, configuration and piloting.
Participants are undergoing rigorous hands-on modules covering both autonomous and manual flight operations, with a focus on real-time surveillance, reconnaissance and tactical deployment in complex terrains.
The curriculum is designed to cultivate technical skill, analytical precision and situational adaptability skills vital for mission-oriented UAV operations.
By bridging academic expertise with field experience, the initiative underscores Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and Assam Rifles' shared commitment to fostering indigenous innovation and technological self-reliance in national defence.
