Fitting tributes paid on birth anniversary of revolutionary leader

Thoubal/Kakching/Bishnupur, October 01 2024: Many observed the 128th birth anniversary of Jana Neta Hijam Irabot yesterday in various districts.

At Thoubal, Kekru Yairi Club organised a ceremonial celebration at the premises of the Club located at Yairipok Kekru.

In this connection, a social service drive was carried out in the areas under the jurisdiction of the Club with the participation of at least one person from each household.

Additionally, floral tributes and other oblations were offered on the portrait of the revolutionary leader at the Club office.

Club members and volunteers of Yairi Women Development Organisation graced the event as presidium members.

On another note, the birth anniversary of Hijam Irabot was also observed widely across Kakching district yesterday.

Jana Neta Irabot Ningshing Lup Kakching celebrated the day at Irabot Park located at Kakching Keithel with the offering of floral tributes on the Irabot monument at the park.

Meanwhile, Library and Information Centre Kakching conducted a cleanliness drive in this connection.

Uyok Chingya Club (UCC), Kakching hosted a literary meet cum felicitation programme at Kakching Turel Wangma Community Hall.

Meanwhile, Citizen Association for Rural Development (CARD) Wabagai offered oblations to the social activist at Wabagai Yangbi Community Hall.

In commemoration of the 128th birth anniversary of Hijam Irabot, Sena Athletes Organisation conducted a social service drive while at Hijam Irabot Memorial Public School (HIMPS), teachers and students paid homage to the iconic freedom fighter.

As part of the celebration, HIMPS' Hijam Irabot Memorial Football Academy was inaugurated.

Social worker M Binod and Kh Radhamani, former Councillor, Kakching Khunou Municipal Council distributed uniforms and other sports items including footballs to the players of the Academy.
