MCJCC demands arrest of accused in Keirao Wangkhem killing

Imphal, August 01 2026: The Meitei Community Joint Coordinating Committee, Waithou, Kiyam, Kiyam Siphai, Haokha & Waithou (MCJCC) today held a press meet at Babu Bazar and condemned the arrest of Ronald, son of the deceased, in connection with the July 20 killing of Ngangkham Thambou at Keirao Wangkhem.

MCJCC Women Wing member Ak Chitreswori claimed that the victim's wife, Keinatombi, stated that a person named "Laba" was involved.

Instead of questioning him, police arrested Ronald on July 28 and are allegedly harassing the bereaved family, she said.

MCJCC demanded Ronald's immediate release and urged police to arrest "Laba" and other culprits.

Failure to act, the committee warned, would invite further agitation.
