CAU, Imphal conducts Beekeeping training

Imphal, March 01 2025:
College of Agriculture (CAU), Imphal, All India Co-Ordinated Research Project, AICRP on Honeybees and Pollinator conducted a training programme on "How to become a Beekeeper: Developing Knowledge and Skills under NEH programme", on February 25 at the varsity's Integrated Beekeeping Development Centre training hall.
The programme was attended by COA, CAU Imphal AICRP principal investigator Dr Nilima Karam, co-principal investigator Dr P Bhumita, Department of Horticulture assistant professor Dr Kh Gayatri, assistant entomologist (maize) and bee professional Arambam Suchitra Devi as the resource persons.

Speaking at the programme, principal investigator Dr Nilima Karam pointed out that the training was held especially to train unemployed youths on beekeeping to help them sustain their livelihood by raising bees.
Stressing the need to evolve from primitive way of beekeeping to modern methods, the principal investigator said that opting modern methods can ensure higher yield which in turn will help farmers earn more profits.
Certificates and bee boxes were also distributed to the participants during the training programme.
