Babysana case disposed of

The Court of Imphal West Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) on Friday accepted the final report submitted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) related to the controversial death of 12-year old Ningthoujam Babysana, a student of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, who was found dead handing on July 18, 2019 .
Consequently, all related criminal cases have been disposed of.
Persons accused in the case included Nongmaithem Jinnty (26) of Yaiskul Sougaijam Leirak, Kamei Ileen (54) of Langthabal Chingthak, Pheiroijam Robinson alias Boycha (38) of Canchipur, Pheiroijam Landhoni Devi (58) of Canchipur and Pheiroijam Romita of Kwakeithel Thiyam Leikai.
The final report submitted by the CBI/ SCB, Kolkata to the CJM Imphal West mentioned that its earlier final report submitted on November 16, 2021 was objected by petitioner Ningthoujam Tomchou (68) of Thangmeiband Meisnam Leikai, father of Babysana, which the same court upheld and ordered further investigation.
As per the case dossiers, Tomchou expressed dissatisfaction with the investigation conducted by the local police, and approached the High Court of Manipur with a plea for roping in the service of the CBI for an in-depth probe into the case, which the court approved.
As the CBI investigation, too, could not establish corroborate allegations of abetment of suicide against the school's authorities, the two wardens or others accused in the case, the court dismissed the protest petition citing lack of evidences and material records, and ordered disposal of the same.
