Imphal, August 30 2025: Dhiraj Yumnam, president of the Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee, Manipur (STDCM), who led the movement demanding inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) list, passed away following a personal ailment yesterday morning.

A press release issued by STDCM said that a condolence meeting was held today at the residence of its working president, retired Lieutenant Colonel L Lokendra Singh, at Sangakpam Bazar, to pay homage to its leader.

The meeting, presided by retired Lieutenant Colonel L Lokendra, was attended by members of the STDCM executive committee, advisers, and representatives from the women's and youth wing.

The gathering paid respect to the departed soul with a two-minute silence and offered prayers for the departed soul to rest in peace.

The STDCM also extended its condolences to the bereaved family, sharing their grief.
