Shija Hospitals spreads awareness on breast cancer at MU

Imphal, October 29 2025: In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, ShijaHospitals, Langol, Imphal, in collaboration with the Manipur University Health Centre, and Department of Manipuri, MU conducted an awareness programme on breast cancer at the Manipuri Department Hall.

As per a press release, resource person, Dr Ajit Lukram, Consultant Surgeon, Shija Breast and Thyroid Clinic, and Clinical Fellow (Breast and Endocrine, Colorectal Surgery) from North Cumbria University Hospital, United Kingdom, delivered a session on the importance of early detection, timely intervention, and preventive measures in reducing breast cancer-related mortality.

He emphasized regular self-examination and screening as key steps in early diagnosis.

At the programme, participants were provided with breast cancer awareness booklets printed in Manipuri and English.

The hospital also announced 25% concession on relevant investigations, including digital mammograms and breast ultrasonography, 10% concession on procedures and 20% on general ward bed charges for students and staff at Manipur University.

The programme was attended by over 100 participants, including students, faculty, and staff members.
