Imphal, March 29 2025:
Drawing the attention of the Governor and the chief secretary, Public Works Department (PWD) contractors appealed for releasing the pending funds at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here on Friday on behalf of the aggrieved contractors, one Ningomba Khomeiton, contended that necessary documents were submitted to the works secretary and finance in-charge for releasing the pending PWD funds for 2024-25.The documents from works section were also forwarded to finance section through e-filing.
The passing of this year's budget in Parliament was delayed due to the imposition of President's Rule in the state.
Accordingly, the necessary documents were submitted in a clear manner to be included in the budget for the Works Department.
However, the files are put on hold in the Finance Section, he alleged, adding that the reason for the delay in processing the files remains unclear.
Stating that all the works for the pending funds are already completed, he emphasised that there are also files that have been pending for more than six to seven years.
Pointing out that they are sustaining their family out of the bill money from the work, Khomeiton appealed to the Governor and chief secretary to look into the matter and release the pending funds at the earliest.
