Imphal, April 28 2026:
The Dental College, RIMS, Imphal has trained over 700 school teachers as 'Oral Health Ambassadors' in a five-day programme held this April to boost paediatric dental health.
The Teachers Training Programme on Oral Health Awareness was organised by the Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha Manipur from April 6 to 10 .
Held online, the sessions covered all districts and focused on early identification of oral problems, preventive dental care, and hygiene practices.
The programme aimed to build teachers' capacity to spread preventive oral health messages in schools and the wider community.
After the training, participating schools have started naming students as junior Oral Health Ambassadors to demonstrate proper brushing and promote healthy habits among peers.
Organisers said the initiative seeks to create lasting impact by embedding oral health education in the school system.
Equipping educators with professional dental knowledge helps preventive messages reach children effectively.
The training was part of the month-long observance of World Oral Health Day 2026, underlining a commitment to improve the long-term wellbeing of Manipur's youth.
