Imphal Literature Festival begins

Imphal, November 27 2025:
The annual 'Imphal Literature Festival' organised by the Sahitya ThoupangLup began today at the auditorium of State Central Library, Keishampat.
The festival, running from November 27 to 29, 2025, is being organised in collaboration with Phunga Heritage.
The inaugural function was graced by Munish Ningthoujam, Zonal Director, North East Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR); Subhash Das, eminent writer & dramatist; Shyamal Bhattacharya, eminent author & translator; and Longjam Joychandra Singh, president, Manipur Sahitya Parishad , Imphal as presidium members.
On the first day, Nando Ningomba gave a talk on the topic "Contemporary Manipuri Poetry" and Kukil Saikia spoke on "Contemporary Assamese Poetry" .
Two books- "Somantoral" published by Literature of North East India and "Manipur Diaries" written by Aishwarya Vikram Nadhe were released.
A poetry reading session was also held featuring Sebastiao Mussungo from Angola, Natthakan from Thailand, Brajakumar Sarkar from West Bengal, Kukil Saikia from Assam, L Birmangal from Tripura and N Kirankumar from Manipur.
Sahitya Thoupang Lup president Saratchand Thiyam was also present at the event.
