Integrity Protection Day observed

United Committee Manipur (UCM) today blamed the never-ending peace parleys between the Government of India and NSCN-IM for constantly threatening the territorial integrity of the State.
Since the Naga rebel group entered into a ceasefire agreement with the Centre and began peace talks, NSCN-IM has demanded South Nagaland, Greater Nagaland and now 'Supra State Body' model and 'alternative arrangement' for the Nagas, UCM president Y Nabachandra said while speaking on the occasion of Integrity Day Protection Day organised by ACOAM Lup, Kangleipak at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound here today.
Nabachandra charged the Government of India with being double standard while dealing with the NSCN-IM to bring a political solution to the vexed Naga issue.
He alleged that during the protracted political dialogue with the insurgent group, the Centre always tells something to the NSCN-IM while other thing to the people.
Nabachandra said such attitude of the Centre coupled with the ceasefire agreement between the Government of India and NSCN-IM and their peace parleys have constantly threatened the territorial integrity of Manipur.
He also called upon the people of the state to re-affirm the stand on the protection of the state's territorial integrity.
ACOAM Lup, Kangleipak observes Integrity Protection Day on July 27 to commemorate the removal of the clause "without territorial limit" from the Indo-NSCN (IM) Cease Fire Agreement signed in 2001 .
On this day, July 27, 2001, the Government of India deleted the 'without territorial limits' from the Bangkok ceasefire pact signed between the Government of India and NSCN-IM on June 14, 2001 restricting the truce in Nagaland only.
Today's observance function was attended by former Project Director of MACS Dr Lisam Khomdon, President of ACOAM Lup Kshetrimayum Somorendro, Advocate H Kulla, President of Editors' Forum P Ibochouba, President of Kanglamei Y Leirik Leima and President of KIL RK Sanatombi as presidium members.
In his speech, Dr Khomdon said that the Chief Minister and other Cabinet Ministers could not do their works beyond four valley districts of the State.
They are incapable leaders who are not concerned with the territorial integrity of the State.
Indian Government is adopting the "divide and rule" policy of the British government to administer the people of Northeast, he noted.
He further said that former Union Home Secretary GK Pillai had even admitted wrongdoings of Indian Government towards Manipur in The Telegraph.
People need to contemplate on the core issue of Pillai's statement, Khomdon added.
