On the auspicious occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, Governor Gurbachan Jagat has greeted the people of Manipur in general and the Jain brethren in particular.
In his message to the people, the Governor said that Lord Mahavir showed the path of salvation through love, compassion, forgiveness, benevolence, non-violence and renunciation of materialistic desires.
Mahavir Jayanti reminds us of His eternal message and teachings of peaceful co-existence of mankind as a whole, doing away with all the social boundaries of caste, creed and religion, the Governor said, adding that while celebrating the birth of Lord Mahavir, along with paying our obeisance to this outstanding apostle of peace and non-violence, we should resolve to follow His ideal � Live and Let live, to make the celebration of Mahavir Jayanti meaningful.
Joining the people of Manipur in celebration of Mahavir Jayanti, the Governor also prayed to Almighty God that Mahavir Jayanti may usher in an era of peace, prosperity and harmony in the State.
