18th Asian Dalit Sahitya conference held in Kuala Lumpur

Jiribam, June 26 2026: The 18th Asian Dalit Sahitya Conference 2026 was successfully held on June 25 at Mesahill Homestay, Nilai, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The event was attended by several dignitaries including Subhankar Halder, CEO and Owner of Epageciti Private Limited, Kuala Lumpur; Haobam Chitra Devi, Programme Coordinator of DSA India; Pisgahhuan Gonmei, Country Coordinator of DSA Thailand; and Nirmala Rajkumari, Programme Assistant of DSA India.

An international award distribution ceremony was also organised as part of the conference.

The recipients of the Malaysia Friendship International Award included Basanti Devi Poudel, Dr Moirangthem Sunitibala Devi, Wahengbam Hemabati Devi, Nirmala Rajkumari, Dr Aribam Guneshwar Sharma and Dr Ngasham Mema Devi.

Additionally, the Malaysia Golden Star Award was presented to Dr Laishram Landhoni Devi, while Laishram Memtombi Devi received the Malaysia Iconic Award.

The Malaysia International Star Award was conferred upon Dr Atom Sunil Singh, and Haobam Chitra Devi was honoured with the Malaysia Life Time Achievement International Award.

Meanwhile.

BK Mangang, secretary of the Dalit Sahitya Academy, Manipur in a release has informed that the awards of recipients who could not attend the event will be handed over during an upcoming programme in Imphal.
