RIMS holds training on "Conflict of Interest in Ethical Review"

The Research Ethics Board (REB) of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal, today organised a training session on "Conflict of Interest (COI) in Ethical Review" at the REB Board Room, RIMS, Imphal.
The session was held in line with the REB's Standard Operating Procedures, which require periodic training for all members to ensure regulatory compliance and maintain institutional standards.
The programme was attended by Prof Kh Lokeshwar Singh, Medical Superintendent of JNIMS Hospital & Chairman, REB, RIMS, Imphal; Prof Ch Pritam Kumar Singh, Member Secretary, REB RIMS, Imphal; Prof RK Lenin Singh, former Member Secretary, REB, RIMS, Imphal; and members of REB, all committed to strengthening ethical review practices and upholding high standards of research governance.
In his address, Prof Kh Lokeshwar emphasized the importance of ethical research, participant safety, and academic integrity.
He appreciated the organisers for promoting awareness on research ethics and encouraged researchers & students to uphold transparency, responsibility, and ethical standards in medical research.
Prof RK Lenin delivered an expert session on the critical issue of conflict of interest in ethical reviews.
The session highlighted the importance of transparency, accountability, and impartiality in the ethical review process to uphold the integrity of biomedical and health research.
The training programme included a comprehensive series of activities such as a pre-test assessment, expert lecture on conflict of interest in ethical reviews, mock review session, post-test assessment, and participant feedback session.
Certificates were also distributed to the participants.
