Training programme on scientific cultivation practices of wheat and barley concludes

The College of Agriculture (COA), Iroisemba successfully concluded a five-day training programme on "Popularization of Scientific Cultivation Practices of Wheat and Barley in the North Eastern State of Manipur" yesterday.
The programme was conducted under the NEH component of the All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Wheat and Barley which was sponsored by ICAR-IIWBR, Kamal, Haryana.
A total of 33 farmers and 8 students participated in the training programme, which included expert lectures, field visits, and practical sessions.
Over the course of the four-day lecture series, participants gained valuable insights from renowned experts from the College of Agriculture, Iroisemba and the ICAR-NER Complex, Imphal.
The training programme concluded yesterday with an informative field visit to the Central Farm and hands-on experience with agricultural machinery at the COFT, Lamphelpat.
This provided the participants with practical knowledge of scientific cultivation practices and advanced farming techniques.
The event was graced by the presence of distinguished personalities, including Professor N Bajendra Singh, Professor L Nongdrenkhomba Singh, Professor K Nandini Devi, Dr N Surbala Devi and Professor Indira Sarangthem, Dean, College of Agriculture, Iroisemba.
The programme was coordinated by Dr Vikas Verma.
Scientist, AICRP on Wheat and Barley, College of Agriculture, Iroisemba, who ensured the smooth conduct of the training sessions.
The programme was coorganised by Dr R Joseph Koireng, Dr Pramesh Kh and Dr P Bhumita.
The training programme was conducted with the main aim to empower farmers and motivate them to opt for wheat and barley crop instead of keeping land fallow after rice crop cultivation.
Additionally, the training programme was held to acquaint the farmers with the latest agricultural practices to enhance productivity and sustainability in wheat and barley cultivation.
