Locals denounce all forms of money collection in Kangmong area

Bishnupur, October 24 2024: All Kangmong Clubs Coordinating Committee and All Kangmong Leikai 9 Meira Paibi Lup staged a sit-in protest at Kangmong Langoljam Mayai Leikai Community Hall protesting against all forms of money collection in Kangmong area.

It is worth noting that Kangmong is a red zone area and falls under the jurisdiction of Nambol police station.

During the protest, the womenfolk held placards with messages such as "Have sympathy for the people living in red zones" and "Stop all forms of money collection" .

Speaking by the sideline of the protest demonstration, Heigrujam Premabati, Lup convenor, shared that on October 10, 2023, a joint public meeting passed many resolutions including prohibition on any ferm of money collection in Kangmong area.

Similarly, on October 10, 2024, the meira paibis of 9 Kangmong localities along with the local clubs passed the same resolution for the second time after a detailed discussion.

Elaborating on the dangers in this red zone area, she explained that Kangmong is located very close to Kuki villages.

As a result, the residents are always ill at ease and spend their nights staying up and guarding the area.

She added that the people of Kangmong have always gone out of their way to extend a helping hand.

Many times, the villagers have pooled their money and aid have been extended to many across the State.

However, in view of the hardships the villagers are facing, she has appealed to all concerned to refrain from collecting money from any of the nine localities in the Kangmong area.
