The Special Judge (Prevention of Corruption), Imphal West, on Friday rejected the bail application of Irom Bishorjit Singh and remanded him to judicial custody till December 5, 2025, in connection with a bribery case registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB), Imphal.
Bishoijit, a Senior Accountant in the GOE Section of the office of the Principal Accountant General (A&E), Manipur, Imphal, was arrested on November 18 while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 in his office cabin.
According to the prosecution, a written complaint was received by the CBI on November 17, 2025, alleging that the complainant's MACP file had been pending for a long time in the Principal Accountant General's office.
The accused, who was handling the file, allegedly demanded Rs 20,000 as bribe to clear it, following which the CBI laid a trap and caught the accused allegedly accepting Rs 10,000 from the complainant.
The bribe money was recovered in the presence of independent witnesses.
After hearing the submissions of the PP and perusing the case records, the Court found merit in the CBI's prayer for judicial remand in the interest of a smooth and effective investigation.
Accordingly, the bail application was rejected, and the accused was remanded to judicial custody till December 5, 2025 .
