Jiribam killings: Meira rally staged in Cachar

Jiribam, November 21 2024: A meira rally was taken out from Sonai Kalibari in Cachar, Assam in protest against the brutal killing of three women and three children yesterday night.

The rally was organised by the Co-ordination Committee on Crisis of Meetei/ Manipuri.

Committee advisor Dr KN Chand, convener Okram Lakhikanta and Fanjowbam Indrajit as well as Haorongbam Ranjit, Laisom Biralal, Oinam Nilo, Kamlabati Sija accompanied by a large number of meira paibis, teachers and youths took part in the torch rally.

The rally goers raised slogans such as "Penalize the perpetrators of Jiribam killings", "We condemn the violent act of Kuki militants", "The State Government should restore peace in Manipur" and "Long live Manipur" among others.

The meira rally culminated at Kali Mandir in Sonai where candles were lit and prayers offered for the departed souls to rest in peace.
