Dry days for all on poll day

Declaration of 'dry days' under Section 36 (2) (I) (VIII) of the Assam Excise Act, 1910 and read with Rule 321 of Manipur Excise Rule, 1962 has been further extended to all categories of persons in Manipur from 3 pm of January 26 to 3 pm of January 28 and again on the day of counting votes on March 6. According to an order issued by Commissioner (Excise), government of Manipur Sumant Singh, no establishment selling/serving liquor to person/s including the categories of persons exempted under the Manipur Liquor Prohibition Act, 1991 shall be permitted to sell/serve liquor to anyone, whosoever, on the aforesaid days.
The possession/storage and consumption of liquor by individuals belonging to Schedule Tribe/Schedule Caste categories shall be prohibited during the said period and the restriction provided in the Excise Law on the stores and possession of liquor in unlicensed premises shall apply to such categories of persons accordingly, the order said, adding that the ban also extends to the Military/Para-military/Armed Police/Manipur Police.
