Four arrested with drugs, three vehicles

Imphal, March 19 2023:
Security forces arrested four people with illegal drugs from different locations of the state.
According to a police report, a combined team of Imphal West district police commando and Thoubal district police arrested a man with heroin on Sunday.
The arrested man has been identified as Mayangmayum Ithemcha (28) s/o M Alao of Sangaiyumpham Mairenkhul Mayai Leikai.
As per the report, the team conducted a raid at the residence of Ithemcha at Sangaiyumpham Mairenkhul Mayai Leikai around 3 am Sunday.
During the raid, the team came across an area, which seems to have been freshly dug up, near a pond in his property.
On digging up the earth, the team found 4 plastic soap cases, containing suspected heroin (48gm) and 5 blue plastic bags, suspected to be containing WY tablets.
Both Itemcha and the seized items have been handed over to Thoubal PS for further legal action.
Another police report informed that a combined team of Imphal East district police commando, Thoubal district police commando and Lilong police station arrested three people with illegal drugs around 8pm on Saturday.
The three arrested people have been identified as Md Imtiazuddin Rahman alias Nanao (24) s/o Md Noor Rahaman of Lilong Haorou Hangamthabi, Md Amir Khan (24) s/o (L) Md Lahimuddin of Lilong Yangbi Leikai Boroi Makhong and Abdur Wahid (36) s/o Md Nasir Ahmad of Keikhu Makha Leikai.
According to the police report, the team was conducting a search operation in Lilong Haorou Hangamthabi area on Saturday.
During the operation, the team arrested Md Imtiazuddin Rahman alias Nanao, Md Amir Khan and Abdur Wahid around 10.50 pm.
The team recovered 50,000 WY tablets, two Maruti Suzuki Eeco vans, one Maruti Swift Dzire, one bag and three mobile phones from their possession.
According to sources, one the arrested person is jawan of a central force and a vehicle registered in Meghalaya.
The arrests and seizures were made when the police raided a suspected spot and started a search operation on the two parked vehicles, to which threesome raised objection.
The police team then detained them and drove the two parked cars to the Lilong police station where independent search operations were carried out.
In the in-depth search operations, the illegal drugs were recovered under the front engine chamber of the vehicle.
From their interrogation, the police came to know that the drugs were to be smuggled outside the state through their counterparts in other north-eastern states.
The arrested trio and the seized items including the vehicles have been handed over to Lilong PS for further course of legal action, the report conveyed.
